Software

Software is the virtual part of the system. It is composed of programs, applications, instructions and communication protocols that interact with the user and control the operation of the equipment. There are two main types of software:

Operating system: 

Regulates the way the system operates, ensuring its continuity and serving as the basis for other programs or applications. It usually comes built into the factory system.

Application software: 

These are the additional programs that are installed on the computer with an operating system. These programs perform various tasks, such as: 

• word processors.
•  spreadsheets.
• internet browsers.
• design applications.
•  video games.

In short, hardware is the tangible body of the system, while software is its virtual mind. Together, they complete the entirety of a computer system.
